PORTABLE SANDING REWARDS CONTROL

Use the least aggressive belt that levels the surface efficiently

A portable belt sander can remove material quickly. Keep the platen flat, keep the tool moving, manage dust and heat, and test the chosen grain and grit on representative material.

01

Twelve belts per pack

All 12 belts use the grain and grit selected in the live product controls.

02

20 live combinations

Ten aluminum oxide, six zirconia, and four ceramic variants are listed.

03

Customer-verified rating

4.8 out of 5 from 46 reviews. Available review content appears below.

DECISION GUIDE

What should you verify before choosing?

The exact fit, abrasive construction, grit, machine setup, work material, and finish target all affect the result.

ALUMINUM OXIDE

36 and 60–400 grit progression

The broadest live range for stock removal, intermediate sanding, and fine preparation on compatible wood or metal processes. There is no 40-grit aluminum oxide option on this page.

ZIRCONIA

36–120 grit removal range

A tough coarse-to-medium option for demanding removal, particularly where the material and tool pressure support the grain.

CERAMIC

36, 60, 80, and 120 grit

A pressure-responsive option for demanding grinding stages. It is not offered in the fine grits and is not automatically the best choice for every substrate.

TOOL CONTROL

Avoid dwell marks and rounded edges

Set the tool down and lift it according to the sander manual, keep it moving, and do not tip or dwell where the belt can dig into the work.

ORIGINAL MACHINE REFERENCES, RETAINED

Which machines are associated with this size?

These names help identify likely applications; they are not fit guarantees. Confirm exact dimensions and requirements in the machine manual.

MACHINE REFERENCE

Makita 9920 3-inch × 24-inch belt sander

Verify the exact revision, abrasive dimensions, backing, joint, speed, and operating requirements.

MACHINE REFERENCE

Makita 9924DB 3-inch × 24-inch belt sander reference from the original page

Verify the exact revision, abrasive dimensions, backing, joint, speed, and operating requirements.

Fit check: A manufacturer or family name is not enough. Match the complete specification before ordering.

HOW TO USE IT

Install, center, and test the portable-sander belt

Follow the tool manual for unplugging or battery removal, belt direction, tension, tracking, handles, collection, and startup.

  1. 01

Disconnect power and confirm the sander requires a 3-inch × 24-inch belt.

  2. 02

Inspect the belt, platen, rollers, tracking system, and collection path.

  3. 03

Install the belt in the required direction and center it with the tool’s tracking control.

  4. 04

Start the tool clear of the work and verify stable tracking.

  5. 05

Test on scrap or an inconspicuous area, keep the platen controlled, and inspect the scratch before moving finer.

Use the guarding, extraction or collection, personal protective equipment, training, and operating procedures required by the machine, abrasive product, work material, and workplace.

Use it for

  • Compatible 3-inch × 24-inch portable belt sanders
  • Wood leveling and finish preparation
  • Qualified metal sanding and surface preparation
  • Coarse removal through fine aluminum oxide refinement
  • Flat, supported work with controlled tool movement

Do not use it for

  • A sander requiring another belt width or loop length
  • Starting or stopping the belt while uncontrolled on the work
  • Tilting the platen into an edge unless the tool and process require it
  • Skipping scratch-removal stages
  • Using a model reference without verifying the exact revision

PRODUCT FAQ

Questions before you choose?

What comes in each 3-inch x 24-inch order?

Each selected variant contains 12 matching belts in one abrasive material and grit.

Which grits are actually available?

Aluminum oxide is listed in 36 and 60–400 grit, zirconia in 36–120 grit, and ceramic in 36, 60, 80, and 120 grit. The live selector is the controlling list.

Will these fit a Makita 9920 or 9924DB?

Those 3-inch × 24-inch models are referenced on the original page. Confirm the exact model revision, belt direction, backing, joint, tension, speed, and manual requirements before ordering.

Are ceramic belts guaranteed to last several times longer?

No universal life or cut-rate multiplier is promised. Results vary with material, pressure, speed, contact geometry, heat, loading, tracking, and operator technique.

Can these belts sand both wood and metal?

The original product record supports both. Use an abrasive, grit, tool setup, work support, collection or ventilation method, and safety procedure qualified for the actual material.

What are the shipping and return terms?

Shipping methods, rates, and delivery estimates depend on the order and destination and are shown at checkout. The return policy provides a 30-day window for eligible unused items in original condition and packaging. Restrictions and return-shipping costs apply.
