Maverick Abrasives manufactures custom sanding belts to order in virtually any size, from 1/4" up to 60" wide and up to 400" long, with low minimums and roughly 3-day production. As a direct converter of coated abrasives, we cut and splice every belt in-house from aluminum oxide (cloth or paper backed), silicon carbide (cloth or paper backed), zirconia (R205 or PZ628), zirconia with a grinding aid (R203 or PZ528), and our famous Ceramic Shredder material. If your machine takes a belt, we can build it. We also make custom-size sanding discs the same way.

How do you measure a sanding belt the right way?

The size you need is width x total length. Width is easy: lay a ruler across the belt. Total length is where people get it wrong. A sanding belt is a loop, and we need the total length of that loop, not a flat measurement across it. The most accurate way to measure is to cut your old belt completely in half so it opens into one long strip, then measure from one end to the other. That number is your total length.

How do I measure a sanding belt?
